The Virtual Hajj Experience by Dessert in the Desert is comprised of two classes. A commitment must be made to both sessions in order to receive the full experience.
The first class will inshAllah take place on July 21st, from 4-6pm via Zoom. A link will be sent via email to all registered participants. This session consists of a lecture and slideshow outlining the different rites of Hajj and their significance. Students will have their mikes off during the duration of the class, except for Q&A sessions that occur periodically throughout the class. There are no supplies needed for this class except to login at a quiet location and use headphones.
The second class takes place on Thursday, July 23rd from 4-6 pm. It is made up of various activities that were inspired by these rites. Many of the activities in the second class are not virtual at all. The items needed for the session will be:
- Boys should wear white clothes (any white t-shirt will suffice) and girls will wear modest clothes of any type. It does not have to be black. Head scarf must be worn
- A box of LEGO pieces that will be used to construct a tent. Alternatively, kids can use arts and craft supplies.
- Scrap paper
- A small garbage bin
- A table to do tawaf around (dining table is fine)
- An area for the kids to do some walking back and forth
You can register your child at this link. Please note that if you have more than one child that is interested in attending, they should login and participate together from one laptop. This will allow more students to attend. Registration will be closed after I have admitted 40 students.
